A photographic journey through the shepherding year – a photo exhibition by Simone Friedrich
Moments in the life of a hobby shepherdess, captured in atmospheric images: The Rhineland-Palatinate Stork Center in Bornheim and hobby shepherdess Simone Friedrich invite you to the photo exhibition "The Shepherding Year in the FFH Area of Herxheim." With her camera and often also with her phone, Simone Friedrich documents the everyday life and special moments of her shepherding life in the FFH area (Fauna-Flora-Habitat area) of Herxheim. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the year – from life in the stable in winter, the lambing season in spring, through the summer care of the herd, to the icy winter months. The images not only showcase the impressive landscape of the Herxheim FFH area but also highlight the close connection between humans, animals, and nature. They allow viewers to experience firsthand what it means to work with and for the animals, and underscore the relevance of shepherding for the preservation of valuable cultural landscapes.
Simone Friedrich, who cares for her sheep with great passion and commitment, aims to not only provide fascinating insights into her life with the exhibition but also to draw attention to the ecological significance of shepherding. Because shepherding is more than just a hobby – it is an important contribution to nature conservation and biodiversity. The exhibition can be seen from January 31st at the Rhineland-Palatinate Stork Center. The photos can be viewed during regular opening hours.
