The market tradition of the town of Kirn probably goes back to the beginning of the 12th century. There is evidence that there were four large markets in Kirn from 1492 to 1699. The candle fair around February 2nd, the Pankratius market around March 13th, the Jakobsmarkt around July 25th and the Franziskusmarkt in the first days of October. There is now a general market on the first Monday of every month, colloquially known as the "monthly market". This market offers all kinds of useful and high-quality goods.
